- Never fall in love or hate relationships with a manuscript or grant application
that you review. Try to be as objective as possible, and consider what other
reviewers think. What is really important is what is right, not who is right.
Be ready to consider other reviewers' points of view and compromise.
- New techniques are crucial for scientific progress, but a paper or a grant
dealing with development of a technique is not science. Using a developed
new technique is a strength, whereas developing a technique in a paper or
a grant is a weakness. Review accordingly.
